Delete a Household Member

Use this guide to remove a member from an RI UHIP account.

From the Home Page access the Admin Dashboard screen and click on the Manage an Individual Account link.

 

This process is used when a member:

  

·        Has passed away

·        Has changed tax filing status

·        Is no longer part of the household,

·        Has changed marital status

·        Has a change in custody and adoption

·        Has a change in Medicare eligibility 

 

An individual can be removed from a household and added to a new account. To add the member to another account, follow the Add a Household Member user guide.  

 

Information about a deleted member is stored 90 days if it is part of an application that was completed but never submitted. It is stored for seven years if it was part of an application that yielded an eligibility decision.

 

 

 

 

 

Process Steps

To remove an individual from a household:

1.      Click on the Manage an Individual Account link in the Individual Administration section on the Admin Dashboard screen.

·        The Account Search screen is displayed.

 

2.      Enter the search criteria for the primary applicant of the household from which the member will be deleted:

 

a.      Select the Individual from the Role drop down menu.

b.      Enter the first name of the account’s primary applicant in the First Name textbox.

c.      Enter the middle name of the account’s primary applicant in the Middle Name textbox.

d.      Enter the last name of the account’s primary applicant in the Last Name textbox.

e.      Enter the date of birth of the account’s primary applicant in the Date of Birth textbox in the format MM/DD/YYYY or select it from the calendar.

f.       Enter the social security number of the account’s primary applicant in the Social Security Number textbox in the format XXX-XX-XXXX.

g.     Enter the account number in the Account ID textbox.

h.      Enter the Application Received Date from and the Application Received Date to fields in the format MM/DD/YYYY or select them from the calendar.

  1. Click the Search button.

 

·        Accounts that match the search criteria are displayed.

 

4.      Select the radio button adjacent to the account.

 

5.      Select View Account from the Admin Functions drop down menu and click Submit.

 

·        The Administrator View of Individual Account Dashboard is displayed.

 

6.      Select the Dashboard tab in the Administrator View of Individual Account Dashboard.

 

·        The Dashboard tab is displayed.

 

7.      Click the Report a Change in Income or Household link in the Quick Links section.

 

·        The Application Review screen is displayed.

 

8.     Click the Edit Information link under the Family Members section.

 

·        The Your Information – Your family members screen is displayed.

 

9.      Click Remove Member button.

 

·        The Remove a Household Member pop-up is displayed.

 

10.   Select a reason for removing the individual from the household from the drop-down menu. Options are:

 

  1. Due to death

     

  2. No longer living in household

     

  3. Moved out of Rhode Island

     

  4. Change in marital status

     

  5. Now eligible for Medicare

     

  6. No longer part of the tax household

     

  7. Change in custody

     

  8. Adoption breakdown

     

  9. Others

 

11.   Enter the Effective Date for the individual being removed to the household in the format MM/DD/YYYY or select it from the calendar.

 

12.   Click Next.

 

·        A pop-up asking to confirm the member’s removal is displayed.

 

13.   Click Remove.

 

·        The Your Information screen is displayed. Information about the removed member of the household does not longer appear on this screen.

 

·        Follow the procedure outlined in the Reporting a Change user guide to complete and resubmit the application.

 

To remove additional members for the household, repeat steps 9 to 13. All members of the household except the primary applicant can be removed from the account.

 

 

 

Results of the Procedure

The member is removed from the household.
